The annual Health Science Alliance Symposium will be held on 24 November, there are still some places available if you have not already registered.

Professor Boon Chua has been appointed the new Director of Cancer Services and Professor of Medicine for Prince of Wales Clinical School, UNSW.

We speak with Professor Mark Harris on the development of a Web-based Shared Care Plan for Long Term Care of Cancer Patients.

Congratulations to Scientia Professor Kat Gaus on being awarded two ARC Discovery awards this month.

This month we profile one of the TCRN's Chief Investigators; Professor Phil Crowe, Acting Head of the Prince of Wales Clinical School, UNSW. Professor Phil Crowe leads the Surgical Quality Improvements component of the Clinical Improvements into Care flagship.

Professor Boon Chua has been appointed the new Director of Cancer Services and Professor of Medicine for Prince of Wales Clinical School, UNSW and commenced in October 2016.
Professor Boon Chua has an exclusive subspecialisation in breast cancer, she is an active clinical and academic leader and holds current appointments in the Advisory Council of Breast International Group, Brussels; Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) TNM Expert Panel for Breast Cancer, Geneva; Scientific Advisory Committees for European Breast Cancer Conference and European Society of Medical Oncology Congress; Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Clinical Services Working Group; ANZ Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Group Scientific Advisory Committee; Cancer Australia Steering Committee for Clinical Practice Guidelines for Breast Cancer; RANZCR Faculty Council of Radiation Oncology.

Implementation Science; facilitators and barriers to the policy-making process. Implementation Science - Community of Practice Webinar

"Making a Real World Impact: Cracking the Nut of Policy with the Sunbed Ban".
This webinar will tell the story of the sunbed ban in Australia. It will give a brief overview of the scientific evidence, the steps that were taken to influence government policy, and the facilitators and barriers to the policy-making process.

Join Asc Prof Anne Cust to hear about her experiences and ask your questions in the Q&A session.
A/Prof Cust is an epidemiologist, leading the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research group at the School of Public Health, The University of Sydney. Her research focuses on cancer (mainly melanoma) etiology, prevention and survivorship, with a strong emphasis on research translation. She is supported by Career Development Fellowships from the NHMRC and the Cancer Institute NSW.
