Welcome to the Nexus for June 2018
In this edition of the Nexus, we are very pleased to congratulate 3 TCRN members who have been recently recognised in the Queens Birthday Honours.
The TCRN Operations and Projects team have been busy over the past few months organising a series of events, namely the Obesity: A new cancer problem, Introduction to Health Economics workshop and the inaugural 2018 TCRN Symposium. We encourage members to register and attend!
Finally, we also profile our recently funded PhD students and TCRN member publications.
TCRN Symposium Registrations Open
The TCRN is delighted to advise that registrations are now open for the inaugural TCRN Symposium on October 30 and that a draft program is available.
The Symposium includes keynotes from Professor Emad El-Omar, A/Professor Claire Vajdic and panels discussing Implementation Science in Translational Research and opportunities for nursing and allied health professionals in research. We hope the symposium opens up collaborations across the network!
Abstract submissions are now open for the inaugural TCRN Symposium on 30 October 2018.
The TCRN wishes to celebrate and acknowledge the work of our members and we invite you to submit abstracts by August 9 2018. Prizes and awards are on offer, we encourage you to apply!
Life after a PhD - A Career Pathway Workshop - 31st July 2018
We are very pleased to announce TCRN’s Life after a PhD – A Career Pathway Workshop 2018! Leaders from various cancer sectors will share their career journeys and mentor attendees in small group discussions. At this workshop, students will also have the opportunity to learn firsthand from the leaders in the field who have utilised their skills and expertise both inside and outside of academia.
The TCRN and HEAT (Health Economics Advice for Research Translation) are hosting an Introduction to Health Economics workshop on 23 August. The aim of the day is to introduce the key concepts in economics and health economics.
