We are very pleased to announce the first ever TCRN scholarship recipients. Congratulations to the following seven UNSW PhD candidates who have been awarded TCRN PhD Scholarship Top-ups:
Three-year $5000 pa scholarship plus $5000 research support
- Peter Zarzour: Development of a novel ex vivo culture system of human and mouse colonic crypts to validate the functional significance of molecular changes in colorectal cancer.
- Jackie Huang: Post-translational modification of a leukaemogenic transcription factor.
Two-year $5000 pa scholarship plus $3000 research support
- Lawrence Er: The descriptive, analytical and molecular epidemiology of cancer of unknown primary site (CUPS).
- Jonathon Marks-Bluth: Gpr56 is a novel regulator of haematopoietic stem cell quiescence and a tumour suppressor in acute myeloid leukaemia.
- Nina Na: Incidence and risk factors for cancer after heart, lung and liver transplantation in Australia.
One-year/final-year $5000 pa scholarship
- Gosia Drwal: Application of computer-aided methods for the design of novel DNA topoisomerase inhibitors and potential anticancer agents.
- Emma Ramsay: Investigation of a tumour enzyme as a predictor of patient response to an Australian anti-cancer drug.
