Conference & Professional Development Grants

The TCRN is offering competitively awarded Conference & Professional Development Grants to expand and enhance the knowledge and skills of our members in the area of translational cancer-related research or cancer care service delivery, at both national and international levels. 

Round 1, 2020

Please ensure that you read the guidelines carefully, and that you understand the requirements for these grants before completing an application.

Available grants

A.        The TCRN Conference Grant  (up to $1,000 for a national conference and up to $2,500 for an international conference)

B.        The TCRN Professional Development Grant (up to $1,000 for a national and up to $2,500 for an international conference/workshop)

Funding Round

Round 1, 2020 (for travel 1 April 2020 – 31 December 2020):

Priority Themes*:

Preference will be given to applicants who attend professional development activities or conferences related to:

• Translational research (in its broadest definition)
• TCRN flagships (Hereditary Cancer, Clinical Improvements into Practice, Continuum of Care, Biobanking and Bioinformatics)
• Evidence into practice or similar
• Cancer biomarkers and personalised medicine
• Health services research
• Conferences specific to the TCRN’s primary site-specific cancers: ovarian cancer, brain tumours, haematological malignancy, gastrointestinal tract malignancy

Applicants who intend on attending professional development activities/conferences in other focus areas may be considered, however preference will be given to areas of interest directly relevant to the TCRN and its flagships.

*Nurses, allied health professionals or PhD students are eligible to apply outside of these priority themes

Key Dates

The TCRN will accept applications for Professional Development grants outside of the normal travel dates and in cases where the applicant can demonstrate a strong alignment with translational research including evidence into practice, knowledge translation, implementation science or any other related areas. Successful applicants will be expected to write an article to the TCRN website sharing their experiences with other members of the TCRN.

This will be subject to budget availability. Please contact TCRN Grants for the application process.
