Associate Professor Winston Liauw

TCRN role: Associate Professor Winston Liauw leads the Multidisciplinary Care Groups program of the Clinical Improvements Into Care flagship. He has ongoing responsibility for implementation of the HSA Biobank at St George hospital. 

Professional and research interests: A/Prof Liauw is a conjoint associate professor at UNSW, the Director of Cancer Services for the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and the principal oncologist in the internationally recognised Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program at St George Hospital. His professional interests lie in gastrointestinal cancer and research ethics. 

Career achievements: Associate Professor Liauw has a Master of Medical Science in Pharmaceutical Development from UNSW and a bachelor’s degee in medicine from the University of Sydney. He has specialist qualifications in both medical oncology and pharmacology. A/Prof Liauw is a founding member and deputy chair of the New South Wales Shared Scientific Assessment Scheme, and a former chair of the Cancer Institute NSW Human Research Ethics Committee. He is a member of the Improving Palliative Care through Clinical Trials NSW, the Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative and the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation scientific communities. He has received more than $2 million in research funding over the course of his career.
