Professor Jane Phillips

TCRN role: Professor Jane Phillips is a senior research lead in the 2025 Cancer Workforce flagship. 

Professional and research interests: Professor Phillips is the Director of the Centre for Cardiovascular and Chronic Care at the University of Technology Sydney and an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame. Her research interests include palliative care, breast cancer and health care reform. 

Career achievements: Professor Phillips has led several successful complex reform projects, and multi-site clinical trials in the translational cancer space. She currently co-leads a National Breast Cancer Foundation Grant to advance person-centred care for cancer patients, and a NSW Government-funded project to investigate medicinal marijuana use for cancer-related conditions. Professor Phillips is the Chair of the PaCCSC Trials Management Committee and President of Palliative Care Nurses Australia. She is an editor of Collegian and a member of the International Journal of Palliative Nursing editorial board, and has research partnerships at Cambridge University, Hull York Medical School and Johns Hopkins University. She was the winner of the 2013 Vincent’s Clinic Foundation Clinical Excellence Award – Nursing and the inaugural recipient of the TCRN’s Cancer Challenge of the Year Award in 2012.
