The Australian Institute of Health Innovation ("AIHI") was established in December 2007 and joined Macquarie University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in November 2014. Led by Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite the AIHI comprises the Centres of Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science ("CHRIS") directed by Prof BraithwaiteHealth Informatics ("CHI") directed by Professor Enrico Coiera and Health Systems and Safety Research ("CHSSR") directed by Professor Johanna Westbrook.

The Institute's overarching aim is to provide a productive culture and first class environment for health systems research, addressing critical issues arising in current health systems that cannot effectively be addressed by single-focus research centres.

The TCRN collaborates with the AIHI to provide expertise on the barriers to, and evaluation of, change within health systems.

Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity

The CPHCE is committed to intervention research that impacts on health policy and practice. The aim of the CPHCE is to contribute to improvements in the health and wellbeing of the community through research that strengthens primary health care, in addition to research into cancer pathways and the integration of care between general practice and hospitals and specialist services.

The extensive primary health care practice research experience the CPHCE brings to the TCRN will provide the foundation and expertise for closer collaborations between primary health care, and cancer researchers and clinicians.
